Winter Update and an Ooops!!
Well, as the words say "That which does not kill me..PISSES me off!" rings all too true. When flesh meets steel..steel wins. I went and ran my thumb up a sword blade and well..a couple of hours and a few sutures later I am sewn back together. So things are slow right now production wise due to the injury and I still have another week or so until the sutures are out. Needless to say i am NOT happy about this. Now here is where it gets interesting:
Last night my computer crashed. Oh fun..oh joy...a Windows failure..so if any of you know of a decent data recovery place to get my documents and photos off of it..please let me know. Which leads to this:
Due to the fact that I will have limited time on a borrowed computer my e-mail response may be a bit tardy until I get the new machine in. So please, bear with me on this. I should have the new machine in a little more than a week/10 days. So...That's what's new
In closing..To all of you, we here at Salamander Armoury wish to all of you a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a Festive Yule.
Best to you!!
Update and a THANK YOU
First of all I would like to say thank you..and I mean THANK YOU to all of you who rallied in support of us here at Salamander Armoury. I am simply cleaned out of everything. This really helped us out..It allowed me to replace 90% of the stolen raw materials and well..I am starting fresh..In other words I have nothing on the website at present and while that is a frightening thing, it also means that I will be putting up all new items. THANK YOU all again..
Now...what does Jim have in the works?? Hummmmmmm..I am in the middle of run of throwing axes and spears, which I should be setting to brown in the next day or two. The browning technique I use is an "olde time" slow technique that takes from 7 days to two weeks..depending ..yeah it takes a while but the results are a beautiful russet brown with great depth to the finish plus it is very durable...So look for those in about 2 weeks.. Plus I am in the middle of a sword and dagger run as well as working on laminated materials so things will be popping up on a regular basis. I just got some replacement RR spikes in so those should be showing up shortly.
Onto other news: I just got denied for yet another research grant. I am pretty much fed up with this whole process. So I have decided to go private and put up a funding page at:
this project will involve making a sword blade from ore..yeah..a blade from dirt. The amount desired is no where near what would cover all the time involved but what the Hell.. It's research for book IV as well so I am giving it a go... So go take a look and see...It'll be interesting once I get started..
Well that's all that is new here...I must say THANK YOU once again to all who helped me through the burglary..IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED...
Update and BAD NEWS
First, the update...I just put up two more pieces, the first is the canceled order for that custom Gen II Katana..a beautiful sword....and a Gen III Katana blade..these are already up and ready to go...
Now for the BAD NEWS: Last night (Saturday) we got hit by a burglar. They got some of my tooling, one of my forges, most of my pommel/guard stock as well as all of my wire rope (that i use to make cable blades from) as well as a stack of 1060 steel that I use for sword blades and quite a few other tid bits...they even took my two buckets of HC rail road spikes...the rat bastards.. This is a MAJOR HIT for us and frankly, to be honest.the timing couldn't be any worse....if things don't sell enough off this web site to get these materials replaced (our business insurance doesn't cover raw materials...oh joy) this could be the end of Salamander Armoury.
I have reduced prices drastically on pretty much everything on this site so if you are going to buy...NOW would be a good time... If you want to order...that would be great as well...as it sits..I am taking a hit for close to $3500.00 worth of materials and supplies..(heck if you want that dai-sho No 73&74 of 125..the first $3000.00 takes it...THAT is a screaming deal for blades like this..that's almost a $2000.00 savings.) I will pay for the shipping on anything on this site.
Couple this burglary with the fact that I will be out of the loop for 10 days or so due to medical reasons...this is a catastrophe happening here in Henderson. I know this sounds harsh but it is the way it is.... simple as that....
I am so angry that I could spit nails.... Sorry for sounding so angry and disgusted but that is how I am right now.. VERY angry and TOTALLY disgusted...
As far as folks with stuff on order..You have NOTHING to worry about..all orders are safe and sound...they didn't get any of them..lucky for me... so that is the one good thing that came outta this...
Thanks for listening...and please take a look at what I have and if anything interests you..please feel free to inquire further....

Update and New Items Added.
I have added several new items to my in stock pages under my "Weird and Wonderful" heading.. a Laminated sword blade, this is a Gen I Japanese style sword blade with great grain and NASTY sharp as well as two laminated tanto blades. I am just tired of the Japanese stuff. In fact I still have that one Gen II Katana that was an order cancellation that I need to finally rub out and post, which I will probably be doing shortly, and a double edged "ken" style tanto blade that I need to photograph and post... and that is IT..as far as what is on this site presently as far as the Japanese blades go..It's OVER...Done with them for a looong while. Which brings me to this...
Item Nos 73/125 and 74/125, both Gen III Blades are a matched Dai-Sho. I am feeling a bit of a financial crunch right now due to some medical things happening. I am willing to offer these two blades as a Dai-Sho for $3200.00 for the pair. This is a screamer of a deal as it is a savings of well over $1700.00. I'll even go for the shipping anywhere in the world (as long as they are legal for you to own).
Due to the afore mentioned medical situation I may be a bit tardy in getting back to you but I will answer all e-mails as soon as I can. When this will happen will be sometime in the next two weeks as we are awaiting a call as far as the surgery goes.
So if anything interests you on my In Stock pages, please by all means feel free to contact me..Also, as always..feel free to ask any questions you may have..
Thank you for your time and interest.
